Research Strategy Development & Integration Lead
Responsibilities:
- Serve as integrator across strategic initiatives (AI, automation, technology), maintaining holistic transformation alignment.
- Develop a point of view on applying AI/automation/emerging tech in Research; translate external innovation into roadmap options.
- Identify/manage cross-initiative dependencies, sequencing risks, and strategic tensions.
- Advance strategic thinking for Research transformation and βLabs of Tomorrowβ (challenge assumptions, identify gaps, incorporate emerging trends).
- Partner with Head of Research Strategy Development to prepare leadership/governance narratives and support decision-making.
- Monitor and critically evaluate the external AI/data science/technology-enabled research landscape for maturity and strategic implications.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure priorities are understood, supported, and resourced.
- Support multi-year strategic roadmap development, including scenario planning and prioritization.
- Build relationships with embedded program managers to inform strategic judgment without duplicating program management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 10+ years in life sciences or technology strategy (management consulting background preferred).
- Advanced degree required: PhD (life sciences/quant) or MBA; MS combinations considered.
- Experience leading/contributing to large-scale technology-enabled/digital transformation in life sciences/biotech.
- Experience with agile delivery in complex orgs.
- Working knowledge of drug discovery & development; can engage scientists on strategy.
- Fluency in AI/data science/platform approaches to drug discovery; AI-first biotech/tech-enabled life sciences experience preferred.
- Strong executive communication; ability to synthesize complexity and influence senior stakeholders without authority.
Preferred:
- Exposure to AI-enabled drug discovery, automation, or next-generation research models; strategy consulting experience.
