Brief Description
- Design and execute experiments on the efficacy and mechanism of action of anticancer compounds, with a specific focus on neuro-oncology.
- Document and archive experimental protocols, data, analyses, and conclusions according to established laboratory procedures.
- Communicate research through publications, conference presentations, abstracts, and patent applications.
- Work under general supervision on multiple projects; full-time laboratory-based role.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Manage cell culture of cancers, including neurospheres.
- Perform in vitro efficacy, mechanism of action, target validation, and biomarker studies with cancer therapeutics (emphasis on CNS tumor models).
- Create stable cell lines with CRISPR and inducible expression of relevant biomarkers.
- Create or adapt reporter systems for relevant molecular targets.
- Present summary results for internal communications and external presentations.
- Support preparation of conference abstracts and manuscripts for publication.
- Develop operational procedures, data documentation, and troubleshooting procedures.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Perform routine laboratory work; type/computer work for long stretches; occasionally move within the office; may occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- 5+ years of industry or post-doctoral bench experience dedicated to neuro-oncology.
- Expertise in neuro-oncology biology and therapeutics.
- Experience with oncology and pharmacology assays/techniques.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication (publications and conference presentations).
- Organized team player managing multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight.
- Computer proficient; forward-thinking/problem-solving; able to set goals, timelines, and monitor progress.
- Urgency to meet business needs; hands-on approach; professional response to changing priorities.
- Proven success in matrix, cross-functional environments; high attention to detail.
Education
- Ph.D. in cancer biology, molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related fields, or a masterβs degree with relevant experience.
