Role Summary
Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Proteomics group in Boston to support hit confirmation and drug target validation. The role focuses on developing and running cell-based assays to validate hits from the company's proteomics-based screening platform, contributing to identification and validation of novel molecular glue degrader targets. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional, multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams.
Responsibilities
- Support research efforts discovering and validating small molecule screening hits through development of cellular assays, including target engagement, ternary complex, and degradation assays
- Collaborate with team members to design and execute experiments using routine molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell culture techniques, including working with both immortalized and primary cell lines
- Assay optimization: identification and fine-tuning of critical assay parameters such as optimal gene expression levels, seeding density, timeframe or co-treatments
- Compile and analyze experimental data and communicate research findings at internal meetings
- Prepare and manage laboratory stocks of routinely used reagents
- Accurately document experimental details through timely maintenance of electronic lab notebook records and the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new protocols
Qualifications
- Required: BSc and/or MSc in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, with at least 2 years of relevant industry or academic research experience
- Required: Proficiency in culturing mammalian cells and utilizing sterile techniques (ideally BSL2 standards)
- Required: Hands-on experience with a variety of cell culture and cellular biochemistry techniques, including transfection, lentiviral transduction, cell line generation, cell viability assays, SDS-PAGE/Western blot, immunoprecipitation/co-IP, and flow cytometry
- Preferred: Experience with cellular PPI, target engagement, ternary complex or degradation assays
- Required: Critical and independent thinking, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Required: Highly collaborative and able to work in a matrix, interactive, and fast-paced drug discovery environment
- Required: Excellent oral and written communication skills to work in a collaborative, matrix team
