Role Summary
BioAge Labs seeks a Research Associate I/II to join the in vivo preclinical team and drive our drug discovery efforts targeting aging-related diseases. This role will initially be hired through our staffing partner and transitioned to full-time BioAge employment within 60–120 days. The position is full-time and on-site in Emeryville, California.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform dosing, blood collection, measurement, and clinical observation of laboratory mice to support in vivo studies.
- Gain proficiency in in-vivo technical skills, including dosing (IP/IV/PO/SC/IM/IT/IN), bleeding (submandibular/submental/retro-orbital/tail vein/cardiac), euthanasia, and necropsy of laboratory mice.
- Under minimal supervision, manage pre-study preparations for mice, such as shaving and animal identification (e.g., ear tag, ear notching, tail mark).
- Collect and record relevant data, providing feedback to team members on the progress of assigned projects.
- Maintain detailed records of measurements, observations, and other required data.
- Adhere to animal welfare rules and regulations under supervision.
- Monitor the health of laboratory mice, recognizing signs of disease and adhering to humane endpoints.
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations with peers.
- Take part in vivarium maintenance, including restocking supplies, cleaning, and husbandry duties.
- Help prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring inventory management.
- Work collaboratively towards the goals of our therapeutic programs and may provide guidance to junior team members.
- Train in advanced procedures and techniques as necessary.
Qualifications
- Required: Hands-on in-vivo technical skills.
- Required: Strong motivation and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Required: Organized and disciplined in record-keeping.
- Required: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Required: Dosing (IM, IV, IP, PO, SC) and related in-vivo procedures.
- Preferred: Proficiency in various blood collection methods (submandibular, submental, retro-orbital, tail vein, cardiac).
- Required: Prior experience in reviewing and analyzing data from studies, including study design and management.
- Required: Familiarity with laboratory practices and equipment.
- Preferred: Some understanding of aging and/or age-related diseases in animal models.
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Biology or related discipline; 1+ years of experience preferred, or 2-5 years of hands-on experience with laboratory rodents.
- Preferred: AALAS certification (ALAT, LAT, LATG).
