Regional Veterinary Director (RVD)
*Significant travel of at least 50% and some weekend work/travel is required.*
Principal Job Duties
General
- Ensure actions reflect Zoetis Core Beliefs and Leader Behaviors.
- Provide superior customer and scientific support; enhance Zoetisβ professional and scientific image.
- Be a credible representative within the veterinary profession; attend/contribute to selected professional organization meetings.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (e.g., with marketing and stakeholders) to influence business strategies and tactics.
Leadership / Strategy
- Serve on the Petcare VPSLT to develop and implement short- and long-term VPS strategies/policies.
- Partner with the Regional Sales Director to drive the Regional Business Plan, including strategic deployment of VPS resources for medically appropriate use of products/solutions.
- Maintain strong working relationships with the Regional Sales Director, Area Business Managers (ABMs), and Regional Sales Enablement partner (frequent communication, alignment, timely execution, direct feedback).
Team Performance
- Lead and develop a team of veterinarians serving as medical advisors; coach/develop others; represent the voice of the veterinarian to the sales team.
- Allocate 60% (+) time to field rides/coaching; conduct 3 in-car rides tied to customer events and coaching for technical excellence, influencing, and strategy.
- Hold team accountable to objectives; manage performance (objectives, standards/metrics, appraisals).
- Ensure VPS alignment with Zoetis business strategies; provide technical support.
- Leverage VPS skills for internal/external customers; drive team culture.
- Execute Regional Speaker Management Strategy.
- Successfully launch new products/service offerings.
- Budget responsibilities: manage operating expenses/assets; monitor/approve expense reports; comply with travel/entertainment policy.
- Develop colleagues via recruiting/development; leverage VPS competencies/IDPs; provide feedback/coaching.
- Complete Individual Development Plan and incorporate feedback.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years clinical practice, academia, or research experience.
- 3+ years industry experience.
- Excellent interpersonal/communication; strong relationship building and cross-organization collaboration.
- Proven leadership; growth mindset/change agile; positive, solution-oriented.
- Confidence and flexibility; strategic thinking and matrix management.
- Ability to influence/persuade; innovate; exercise sound judgment.
- Financial/budget management experience.
- Computer skills (MS Office/Outlook; learn Zoetis systems) and project management skills.
Compensation/Benefits (as stated)
- U.S. base salary range: $164,000β$235,000; eligible for short-term and long-term incentives.
- Benefits include healthcare/insurance day one, 401(k) with match and profit-sharing, and 4 weeks vacation.
