Position Summary
- Develop, plan, coordinate, and direct environment, health and safety (EHS) activities across Bio-Techne and its California sites (San Jose, Newark, San Marcos), ensuring compliance and providing guidance.
- Drive high EHS performance through behavior-based initiatives, auditing, mentoring, and rapid implementation of change.
- Implement and support Federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including Cal/OSHA compliance programs.

Key Responsibilities
- Primary liaison for EHS activities in California (San Jose, Newark, San Marcosβ€”remotely).
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs (OSHA, EPA; Cal/OSHA, CalEPA, DTSC, SCAQMD/Bay Area AQMD).
- Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA IIPP, Heat Illness Prevention (CCR Title 8 3395), Emergency Action/Fire Prevention Plans, HazCom/GHS (Title 8 5194), and Ergonomics (CCR Title 8 5110).
- Oversee hazardous materials management and hazardous waste requirements (DTSC cradle-to-grave, HMBP to CUPAs, Tiered Permitting/RCRA).
- Coordinate environmental compliance (SWPPP, air permit compliance, release response/spill reporting).
- Maintain records (OSHA 300A/301 logs; CA Log 300 posting/retention).
- Lead incident investigations/root cause analyses and ensure corrective actions.
- Conduct internal audits; lead EHS training (Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical Hygiene, Hazard Communication, CA-required modules).
- Mentor/coaching and lead safety culture across supported sites.

Qualifications
- B.A./B.S. and 5+ years EHS/Hazardous materials experience.
- CSP, CIH, or other safety management certificate preferred.
- FDA GMP experience preferred.
- Large facilities EHS operations experience.

Knowledge/Skills
- OSHA/EPA; ISO14001, ISO9001/ISO13485; biosafety, ergonomics, materials management.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving/critical thinking, troubleshooting.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); independence and flexibility.

Working/Physical Conditions
- On-site presence required; occasional travel.
- Extended hours as needed.
- Walk facilities/inspect/respond to emergencies; lift up to 25 lbs.
