Role Summary
The Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) is responsible for providing field access support and education to healthcare professionals to maximize patient access to Neurocrine Biosciences products, communicating with Specialty Pharmacies and HUB partners, and maintaining the integrity of the pharmacy distribution network within an assigned geography. The role requires subject matter expertise on payer coverage policies and processes, cross-functional collaboration with field sales, market access, and operations, and ongoing optimization of workflows and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Builds and sustains relationships with pharmacies, physicians and their office staff and other HCPs to help resolve coverage problems for written prescriptions already in process
- Works cross-functionally with field sales leadership, Regional Sales Managers, Account Specialists, NADs, network pharmacies, and other related departments to support patient access with specific payers
- Provides training and education to HCPs on payer-specific coverage policies and documentation requirements, appeals processes, and patient financial assistance programs
- Introduces technology options for electronic Patient Access submission, explains payer criteria and forms, and provides support for coverage issues and documentation requirements
- Communicates effectively with field sales, corporate offices, HCPs, network pharmacies and HUB employees to identify and resolve coverage and patient access issues
- Identifies and communicates payer issues with the NAD team
- Interfaces with local closed-door pharmacies and LTC pharmacies providing support services and education
- Communicates regularly to management about opportunities and challenges related to patient access
- Presents insight into payer coverage policies and processes at internal reviews and regional meetings
- Conducts Patient Access workshops during POA meetings and assists with new hire training as needed
- Works to ensure a diverse and inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment
- Builds and upholds the company's pharmacy distribution network through the vetting process and monitors pharmacies for effective operations

Qualifications
- Required: BS/BA degree in related field with 6+ years of pharma/biotech commercial experience, including 2+ years with specialty pharmacy/market access; CNS specialty product experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Preferred: Masterβs degree or MBA
- Required: PharmD or PhD with 2+ years of related experience
- Required: Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, PBMs and government payers and their impact on product access
- Required: Excellent working knowledge of patient support programs including reimbursement support and financial assistance programs
- Required: Strong understanding of the prescription adjudication process and ability to communicate payer coverage criteria and prior authorization processes
- Required: Ability to travel overnight up to 60% (travel with field sales, meetings, and key customers); roles geographically dispersed across the US
- Required: Knowledge of best practices in the functional discipline and familiarity with related business concepts; ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks; strong project management and communication skills
