Role Summary
The Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) provides field access support and education to healthcare professionals to maximize patient access and accelerate treatment. He/she coordinates with specialty pharmacies, closed-door pharmacies, and HUB partners to support marketed products in the U.S., and maintains the integrity of the pharmacy distribution network through vetting and communications of approvals or removals. The RPAM collaborates cross-functionally with field sales, market access, and operations, and acts as a subject matter expert on payer coverage policies and processes.
Responsibilities
- Builds and sustains relationships with pharmacies, physicians and office staff to help resolve coverage problems for prescriptions in process
- Works cross-functionally with field sales leadership, RSMs, account specialists, NADs, network pharmacies, and home office colleagues to support patient access with specific payers
- Provides training and education to HCPs on payer-specific coverage policies, documentation requirements, appeals processes, and patient financial assistance programs
- Introduces technology options for electronic Patient Access submission and explains payer criteria, forms, processes, and related documentation requirements
- Communicates effectively with field sales, corporate office, HCPs, network pharmacies, and HUB employees to identify and resolve coverage and patient access issues
- Identifies payer issues with NAD team and interfaces with local closed-door and LTC pharmacies
- Communicates opportunities and challenges related to patient access to management
- Presents insight into payer coverage policies at internal and regional meetings
- Conducts Patient Access workshops during POA meetings and assists with new hire training
- Works to ensure a diverse and inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment
- Maintains and vets the companyโs pharmacy distribution network to ensure effective and efficient operations

Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in related field with 6+ years of pharma/biotech commercial experience, 2+ years of specialty pharmacy/market access experience; CNS specialty preferred; or
- Masterโs degree or MBA with 4+ years of related experience, or
- PharmD or PhD with 2+ years of related experience
- Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, PBMs and government payers
- Excellent knowledge of patient support programs and reimbursement/adherence programs
- Strong understanding of prescription adjudication
- Ability to communicate payer coverage criteria and prior authorization processes
- Experience across pharma/biotech functions (sales, management, marketing, managed markets, etc.)
- Awareness of current issues in the pharmaceutical industry and health care system
- Ability to travel overnight up to 60% (geographically dispersed across the US)
- Strong tools and process improvement mindset; ability to work across teams and lead multiple initiatives
- Leadership ability to guide lower levels or indirect teams
- Excellent computer skills, communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and efficiency; strong project management in cross-functional environments
