Role Summary
The Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) is responsible for providing field access support and education to Healthcare Professionals to maximize patient access to Neurocrine products; coordinating with Specialty Pharmacies, Closed Door Pharmacies, and HUB partners; and maintaining the integrity of Neurocrine’s pharmacy distribution network through vetting and communication of approvals or denials. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with field sales, network pharmacies, market access, and operations, and requires continuous process monitoring and optimization of workflows to improve distribution efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Builds and sustains relationships with pharmacies, physicians and office staff and other HCPs to help resolve coverage problems for prescriptions in process
- Works cross-functionally with field sales leadership and other related departments to support patient access with specific payers
- Provides training and education to HCPs on payer-specific coverage policies, documentation requirements, appeals processes, and patient financial assistance programs
- Introduces technology options for electronic Patient Access submission and explains payer criteria, forms, processes, and related coverage issues
- Communicates effectively with field sales, corporate offices, HCPs, network pharmacies, and HUB employees to resolve coverage and patient access issues
- Identifies and communicates payer issues with relevant teams
- Interfaces with local closed-door and LTC pharmacies, providing support and education
- Communicates opportunities and challenges related to patient access to management
- Presents insights into payer coverage policies at internal reviews and sales meetings
- Conducts Patient Access workshops during POA meetings and assists with new hire training as needed
- Supports a diverse and inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment
- Maintains the integrity of the company’s pharmacy distribution network through vetting and monitoring of pharmacies
- Assumes other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Required: BS/BA in related field and 6+ years of pharma/biotech commercial experience, with 2+ years in specialty pharmacy/market access. CNS specialty experience preferred; experience in other pharma/biotech functions is acceptable
- Preferred: Master’s degree or MBA with 4+ years of related experience
- Preferred: PharmD or PhD with 2+ years of related experience
- Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, PBMs, and government payers and their impact on product access
- Excellent knowledge of patient support programs, including reimbursement and financial assistance
- Strong understanding of prescription adjudication and ability to communicate payer criteria and prior authorization processes
- Experience across pharma/biotech functions (sales, management, marketing, managed markets, etc.)
- Awareness of current issues in the marketplace, pharma industry, and national health care system
- Ability to travel overnight up to 60% (travel with field sales, attend meetings, and work with key customers)
- Geographically dispersed roles across the US
- Knowledge of best practices in the discipline and related business concepts

Education
- BS/BA in related field required; Master’s or MBA preferred; PharmD or PhD considered
