Role Summary
The Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) is responsible for providing field access support and education to healthcare professionals to maximize patient access to company products and accelerate time to treatment. The RPAM communicates with Specialty Pharmacies, Closed Door Pharmacies, and HUB partners to support marketed products in the U.S., and ensures the integrity of the pharmacy distribution network through vetting and ongoing monitoring. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with field sales, market access, network pharmacies, and payer-focused teams, and involves educating on payer coverage, patient financial assistance programs, and coverage processes.
Responsibilities
- Builds and sustains relationships with pharmacies, physicians and their office staff and other HCPs to help resolve coverage problems for written prescriptions already in process
- Works cross-functionally with field sales leadership and related departments to support patient access with specific payers
- Provides training and education to HCPs on payor-specific coverage policies and documentation requirements, appeals processes, and patient financial assistance programs
- Introduces technology options for electronic Patient Access submission, explains payer criteria and forms, and supports related coverage issues
- Communicates effectively with field sales, corporate office, HCPs, network pharmacies and HUB employees to identify and resolve coverage and patient access issues
- Identifies payer issues with National Account Directors team
- Interfaces with local closed-door and LTC pharmacies providing support and education
- Communicates opportunities and challenges related to patient access to management
- Presents insights into payer coverage policies at internal reviews and sales meetings
- Conducts Patient Access workshops during POA meetings and assists with new hire training as needed
- Fosters a diverse and inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment
- Maintains and monitors the company's pharmacy distribution network to ensure effective and efficient operations

Qualifications
- Required: BS/BA degree in related field AND 6+ years of pharma/biotech commercial experience, with 2+ years of experience with specialty pharmacy/market access. Specialty product experience, with CNS preferred. Previous experience in other functions in pharma/biotech desired
- Preferred: Masterโs degree or MBA
- Preferred/Optional: PharmD or PhD
- Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, pharmacy benefit managers and government payers and their impact on product access
- Excellent working knowledge of patient support programs, including reimbursement support and financial assistance adherence programs
- Strong understanding of prescription adjudication process
- Ability to communicate payer coverage criteria and prior authorization processes
- Previous cross-functional pharma/biotech experience in sales, management, marketing, or managed markets
- Awareness of current issues within the pharmaceutical industry and national health care system
- Excellent computer, communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines across projects with high accuracy and efficiency
- Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-functional team success
Education
- BS/BA in related field required; Masterโs degree or MBA preferred
- PharmD or PhD considered for advanced roles
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel overnight up to 60% (travel with field sales, attend meetings, and work with key customers)
