Role Summary
Regional Director, Community Liaison, Northwest Region. You will lead a team that develops and maintains relationships with national and international HIV/AIDS advocates and advocacy organizations, identifying opportunities to establish critical alliances with patients, advocates, allied healthcare professionals, and other non-traditional customers. The role covers NoCal, Nevada, Utah, Seattle, Oregon and Colorado and includes day-to-day management of the Community Liaison team and the associated program budget.
Responsibilities
- Exhibits leadership of the region and leadership within the organization by setting a standard of excellence.
- Exercises judgment, integrity, and equitable management practices to guide day-to-day activities of a diverse cross-section of individuals.
- Develops and maintains solid customer relationships with key executives, decision influencers, and decision-makers at major centers, clinics and other accounts.
- Tracks and reinforces measures of sales force effectiveness at the regional level to meet corporate sales objectives.
- Travel required: 50%.
- Provides counseling and coaching to the sales team, enhances their selling skills, develops expert product and disease state knowledge, maintains customer focus, and improves time management and resource allocation.
- Recruits, hires and manages a team of specialists within the Gilead Sales organization; creates learning plans and provides mentoring and coaching as appropriate.
- Serves as communication liaison between the home office and the region to identify issues, opportunities and competitive activities for marketing and/or sales management.
- Clearly defines roles, responsibilities and measurable outcomes for all activities of the specialist team; regularly measures success and provides feedback on performance.
- Takes a lead role in representing the company at professional events and promotes company products at such events.
- Utilizes business acumen to analyze industry trends, resources, and practices and coordinates related activities.
- Leads cross-functional projects with broad organizational impact and demonstrates exceptional project management.
- Ensures strict compliance with Gilead commercial compliance policy and all applicable laws and guidance relating to product promotion and information dissemination.
- Has a proven track record of success in selling, including technical knowledge, selling techniques, data interpretation, and deep understanding of the medical field and pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate business direction and vision to the region and to articulate scientific/technical information in accordance with marketing and sales regulations, guidelines, and policies.
- Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building, influencing and negotiating skills.
- Understands HR management issues and can navigate complex management challenges.
- Manages large projects and works within cross-functional teams; adheres to operational excellence practices in administrative work.
Qualifications
- Required: High School Diploma and 16+ years of experience; OR Associate's Degree and 14+ years; OR Bachelor's Degree and 12+ years; OR Master's Degree and 10+ years; OR PhD and 8+ years.
- Required: Ability to engage in travel as reasonably required, including regular travel within the assigned area.
- Required: A valid driver's license.
- Preferred: BA/BS degree in life sciences or business administration.
- Preferred: 14+ years of proven commercial experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry (including 2 years of pharmaceutical sales management).
- Preferred: Proven experience in managing a successful product launch and/or product turnaround; expert on industry trends and disease state knowledge, including considerations of plan, cost vs. efficacy, dosing, and duration.
