Role Summary
The Regional Business Director is responsible for leading and directing multiple sales representatives within the Northeast region (New York to Maine) to meet or exceed sales goals and manage expenses for Harmony Biosciences. The role partners with the VP of Sales to execute quarterly sales targets and strategies, collaborating with Marketing, Market Access, and Commercial Operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with deep product and market knowledge, capable of building a high-performing sales culture and guiding Specialty Territory Managers to become clinical experts for HCPs.
Responsibilities
- Sales Performance and Strategy
- Aim to achieve or exceed regional sales and performance targets for Harmony Biosciences products in the US.
- Develop and execute regional strategic and tactical plans aligned with company priorities; conduct territory business reviews to ensure plans are effective.
- Partner with Commercial Analytics to drive field-force effectiveness and execution against KPIs and metrics.
- Manage the region’s operational budget to target and allocate funds to prioritize initiatives.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Foster a high-performance selling culture to build a best-in-class sales team.
- Ensure Specialty Territory Managers (STMs) meet product and brand training targets, including product attributes, competitive awareness, and disease/patient management strategies.
- Champion consultative selling skills and techniques.
- Support ongoing professional development of STMs through goal setting, performance management, and field reporting systems.
- Provide coaching and leadership in the field to drive performance and retention; hire high-performing individuals as roles become vacant.
- Culture, Collaboration & Compliance
- Model high ethical standards and ensure region-wide compliance with Harmony policies and procedures.
- Ensure selling activities align with policies and that expenses are managed according to policy.
- Collaborate with marketing, market access, and commercial operations to respond to market dynamics and opportunities.
- Manage relationships with key account decision makers and KOLs to achieve results across functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
- Required: 8+ years pharmaceutical/biotechnology sales experience; leadership experience in Sales Management, Certified Field Trainer, or Area Business Director preferred; rare/orphan diseases or Sleep medicine preferred
- Required: Experience with specialty products (preferably orphan products), including patient access and reimbursement call centers (Hubs) and Specialty Pharmacies to drive sales pull-through
- Required: Demonstrated track record of leading successful sales representatives with initiative, accountability, and ethical/compliant actions
- Required: Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with multiple product/indication launches
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Concur, Veeva, and business intelligence platforms
- Required: Candidate must reside within the assigned region
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required
Additional Requirements
- Up to 90% travel; some travel for meetings and training
- Valid US Driver’s License with a safe driving record
- Continuous sitting for prolonged periods; ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds occasionally
