Role Summary
Rare Medical Scientific Communication Impact Lead. Lead the global approach to disseminating scientific and clinical data across peer-reviewed publications, symposia, and other scientific external digital channels. Serve as the primary liaison with publication houses, journals, and scientific societies to ensure impactful amplification of company data. Work cross-therapeutic areas with publication leads to drive alignment, consistency, and innovation in how scientific findings are shared externally, positioning the company as a leader in advancing patient care.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-therapeutic alignment of publication strategies, collaborating closely with publication leads in each therapeutic area.
- Serve as the primary liaison with publication houses, journal editorial boards, and professional societies related to medical education initiatives.
- Drive visibility and amplification of published data through strategic partnerships, supplements, special issues, and digital channels.
- Ensure compliance with Good Publication Practice (GPP) and ICMJE guidelines.
- Define and implement an integrated scientific communications plan across publications, congresses, symposia, and digital platforms.
- Partner with Medical Affairs and R&D leaders across therapeutic areas to ensure consistent, timely dissemination of scientific data.
- Identify innovative, cross-functional approaches for communicating complex data to diverse audiences.
- Lead design and execution of cross-therapeutic symposia, workshops, and satellite sessions at major scientific congresses.
- Collaborate with external experts, steering committees, and agencies to deliver scientifically rigorous and impactful programs.
- Ensure consistency of key messages across therapeutic areas and events.
- Partner with therapeutic area publication leads, Medical Affairs, Clinical, and Commercial leadership to align strategies.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to internal team members and external vendors.
- Manage budgets and external partnerships to maximize value and reach.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) in life sciences or related field is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in scientific communications, publications, or medical affairs in pharma/biotech is required.
- Proven success in cross-therapeutic publications strategy and collaborations with publication houses.
- Deep knowledge of scientific congresses, symposia planning, and external engagement.
- Strong leadership and cross-functional influence skills.
- Expertise in GPP, ICMJE, and compliance frameworks.
