Role Summary

Rare Condition Account Manager (RCAM) to lead key relationships in the rare disease space, engaging with high value HCPs, executives, and other key stakeholders within Top Centers of Excellence in the assigned region. Primary focus on demand generation within Growth & Genetics portfolio, calling on Pediatric Endocrinologists, Geneticists, Orthopedics, and Pediatrics with experience accessing and achieving goals in large health care systems. Field-based position covering the Southeast Region (DC, MD, VA, NC, SC, FL, GA, AL, LA).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for demand generation within the Growth & Genetics product portfolio and develop expert product and disease state knowledge to engage in face-to-face clinical dialogue with healthcare professionals.
  • Promote approved indications and product efficacy/safety profiles to support on-label prescribing for appropriate patients.
  • Develop and execute a territory business plan to achieve or exceed sales goals.
  • Establish strategic relationships with key stakeholders in centers of excellence and academic institutions to drive adoption of Ascendis products.
  • Lead cross-functional planning to optimize access and adoption of rare disease therapies and identify referral networks within assigned customer segments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of goals and execution (Patient Services, Marketing, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Market Access).
  • Provide field insights on emerging treatment trends, patient needs, and competitor activity to internal stakeholders.
  • Stay current on rare disease market trends, policy developments, patient advocacy, and competitive activity.
  • Experience launching or supporting ultra-rare disease products.
  • Strong understanding of the specialty drug environment to meet customers’ and patients’ needs. Ability to travel 70% and cover a large geographic area.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
  • Required: 5+ years of experience in strategic account management, market access, or health system-based sales in the rare disease, biotech, or specialty pharma sector
  • Required: Proven ability to engage and influence high-level stakeholders in centers of excellence and academic institutions with measurable impact on product access and revenue growth
  • Required: Demonstrated use of product knowledge to engage in customized discussions and in-person interactions based on customer needs in a compliant and ethical manner
  • Required: Documented track record of consistent top performance
  • Required: Strong knowledge of rare disease market dynamics, including distribution, patient support, care coordination, and reimbursement models
  • Required: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills
  • Required: Strong clinical and business acumen with the ability to craft patient-focused solutions
  • Required: Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and strategic account planning frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred: Familiarity with integrated delivery networks (IDNs), PBMs, and specialty pharmacy operations
  • Preferred: Proven success balancing a product portfolio

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
