Role Summary
R&D Strategic Scientific Communications Senior Manager
Let’s transform complex science into compelling stories. You will own the end-to-end narrative and presentation materials for external scientific communications, shaping messages across disease areas and products to inform and inspire external audiences.
Responsibilities
- Own the master external scientific deck(s) for assigned disease areas or assets; build, update, and tailor for academic seminars, invited talks, and symposia.
- Architect the narrative arc to align with R&D strategy and portfolio priorities.
- Translate complex preclinical/clinical findings into audience-appropriate messages and slides.
- Provide materials to support senior leadership engagements (e.g., slides, speaking notes, run of show).
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure accuracy, alignment, and appropriate claims.
- Set voice/tone standards for external scientific storytelling; maintain consistency across talks and thought-leadership pieces.
- Gather feedback, track deck adoption and impact, and iterate narratives based on signal.
- Govern content through internal review, upholding scientific integrity and company standards.
- Mentor and upskill collaborators on story-first slide writing and presentation craft.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree with 2 years of scientific communications experience
- Or Master’s degree with 4 years of scientific communications experience
- Or Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of scientific communications experience
- Or Associate’s degree with 10 years of scientific communications experience
- Or High school diploma / GED with 12 years of scientific communications experience
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a life-science field (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD, MS)
- Experience in biopharma scientific communications, medical/scientific affairs, or related content roles
- Excellence in storyboarding and executive-level slidewriting for external talks
- Ability to collaborate with senior scientists and executives and influence content direction
- Deep understanding of drug discovery and development and scientific accuracy in external communications
- Strong project/program management; manage multiple decks and deadlines
- Experience preparing speakers for top-tier academic seminars and meetings
- Familiarity with internal medical/legal/regulatory review and claims governance
