R&D Data Architect

Role: R&D Data Architect responsible for designing and managing the data architecture to support scientific discovery, clinical development, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency within biopharma R&D. Responsibilities: lead the development of R&D data architecture (City Plan), define data models, integration, automation, and AI strategies; collaborate with cross-functional teams including scientists, engineers, and product managers; provide technical oversight to data engineering teams; promote modern data architecture approaches like Data Mesh, Data Products, and Semantic Layers; ensure data security, scalability, and compliance; mentor technical staff; partner with enterprise data teams. Requirements: bachelor’s or master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; 8+ years in data architecture with at least 3 years in biotech or pharma R&D; proven experience in data flow models, enterprise data architecture, cloud-native solutions, and delivering data products; strong knowledge of clinical data flow and R&D platforms; familiarity with knowledge graphs, semantic layers, and TOGAF preferred.
