Animal Care Associate (Winslow Operations) — deliver poultry husbandry and vaccine testing support, advancing animal welfare standards, maintaining regulatory-ready facilities, and ensuring health and proper care of bird populations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and assist in routine vaccine testing; provide daily care, feeding, and environmental monitoring (temperature, water, etc.) for chickens and turkeys.
- Maintain facilities in a “regulatory inspection ready” state through cleaning, disinfection, and minor maintenance of enclosures and surfaces.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with USDA regulations and internal quality standards for traceability and compliance.
- Assist in drafting/reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and help implement animal welfare standards across the site.
- Support the Site Veterinarian by auditing buildings and procedures to ensure accuracy and identify conditions affecting bird wellbeing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of [Insert X] years of experience in animal care, farming, or a regulated production environment.
- Strong attention to detail in record-keeping and physical stamina for facility maintenance and animal handling.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Animal or Biological Sciences.
- Experience in poultry husbandry or animal care in a laboratory or regulated environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for data entry and reporting.
- Excellent communication; motivated to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility adapting to new methods and evolving animal welfare protocols.
