Role Summary

QC Laboratory Analyst II performing testing in the Kalamazoo Raw Materials Laboratory on first shift, with potential schedule flexibility to support weekends and holidays. Works in a fast-paced, customer-oriented laboratory to analyze in-process materials, raw materials, APIs, and finished products in support of production. Documents results for qualitative or quantitative assays and troubleshoots test methods and instrumentation to ensure quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze in-process materials, raw materials, APIs, and finished product samples in direct support of production units using standard laboratory equipment and automated instrumentation.
  • Independently perform testing and document results for qualitative or quantitative assays; troubleshoot test methods and analytical equipment; participate in laboratory investigations as required.

Qualifications

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of relevant experience in quality or compliance. Alternatively, an Associateโ€™s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related science with at least 2 years of experience, or a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related science with 0โ€“1 years of experience.
  • Required: Demonstrated proficiency in at least one high-complexity technology (e.g., HPLC, uHPLC, GC) or two or more low-to-medium complexity technologies (e.g., TLC, titrations, wet chemistry/physical testing, water testing) as required by the business unit.
  • Required: Ability to quickly learn new skills/techniques; high productivity with the ability to multi-task and maintain a low error rate; strong attention to detail; flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment; good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentification of samples.
  • Required: Experience troubleshooting test methods and analytical instrumentation.

Skills

  • Proficiency with a range of analytical techniques and instrumentation; strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure; effective collaboration in a team laboratory environment.

Education

  • Relevant degrees as aligned with the qualifications above (High School Diploma/GED with experience or Associate/Bachelor in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related science).

Additional Requirements

  • Physical/Mental Requirements: Laboratory and office work requiring walking, standing, and sitting; lifting items less than 25 kg.
  • Non-standard Work Schedule: May require weekends and/or holidays; adherence to safe work practices and PPE (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves).
