Role Summary
QC Laboratory Analyst II (1st Shift) โ testing analyst in the Kalamazoo Rapid Turn Laboratory on first shift. The role supports production by analyzing in-process materials, solvents, raw materials, APIs, and finished product samples. Technologies used include HPLC, GC, titrations, Karl Fischer, UV, and general analytical procedures. Schedule flexibility may be available to support weekends and holidays as needed.
Responsibilities
- Work in a fast-paced, customer-oriented, team laboratory environment to analyze in-process materials, solvents, raw materials, APIs, and finished product samples in direct support of production units.
- Independently perform testing and document results for qualitative or quantitative assays on samples using techniques ranging from standard laboratory equipment to automated instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot test methods and analytical equipment; participate in laboratory investigations as required.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least one high-complexity technology (e.g., HPLC, uHPLC, GC) or two or more low-to-medium complexity technologies (e.g., TLC, titrations, wet chemistry/physical testing, water testing) as required by the business unit.
- Ability to quickly learn new skills/techniques; high productivity and the ability to multi-task with a low error rate and strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility, agility, and engagement in a changing environment; good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentification of samples.
- Experience troubleshooting test methods and analytical instrumentation.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of relevant experience in quality or compliance; or Associateโs degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related science with at least 2 years of related experience; or Bachelorโs degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related science with 0โ1 years of related experience.
Skills
- Analytical instrumentation: HPLC, GC, UV, titrations, Karl Fischer, and general analytical procedures.
- Laboratory techniques and good documentation practices; ability to prevent cross-contamination and misidentification of samples.
- Troubleshooting test methods and analytical instrumentation; strong problem-solving and learning ability.
Additional Requirements
- Non-standard work schedule may require weekends and/or holidays to meet business or customer needs.
- On-premise work location.
- Safety practices: PPE required (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves).
- Physical requirements: walking, standing, and sitting during a shift; lifting items less than 25 kg.
- No routine travel expected.
