Role Summary

QC-Environmental Monitoring Technician based in Redmond, WA. This role is part of the Quality Control team and is responsible for routine sampling of facility water, air, and surface samples in controlled environments including ISO classified cleanrooms to support GMP manufacturing activities for biotherapeutic products. This position requires some travel between Redmond and Seattle facilities and entails working primarily in a site-based setting with a Mondayβ€šΓ„Γ¬Friday schedule and some flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to the Redmond, WA and Seattle, WA facilities as applicable.
  • Perform process and facility Environmental Monitoring: active/passive viable air sampling, surface sampling, and airborne particulate monitoring.
  • Collect water samples (city, RO, DI, Milli-Q, WFI, etc.) from various valve locations throughout the facility.
  • Maintain EM equipment and keep it up to date.
  • Maintain metrics and contribute to routine EM trending and trending summary reports.
  • Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) electronic notebooks as needed.
  • Order, inventory, stock supplies, clean lab spaces, and ship samples as needed.
  • May perform microbiological lab support activities with additional training.
  • Ensure proper aseptic technique during testing of controlled environments and utility systems.
  • Work in compliance with site quality and site safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with changing priorities and schedules; attend mandatory trainings.
  • Participate in investigations and perform general duties as required by supervision.
  • Collaborate with QA, Manufacturing, Material Management, Facilities/Engineering and other functions to meet internal timelines and milestones.
  • Assist in procedure and job aide document revisions.
  • Provide support during routine and emergency facility repairs, shutdowns, and cleaning activities.
  • Identify gaps, design collaborative solutions, and implement laboratory improvements.
  • Participate in laboratory investigations, deviations, OOS, and CAPAs.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required (kneeling, crouching, twisting, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reach).

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or completion of college-level life science courses required.
  • Good interpersonal skills, hands-on approach, analytical mindset, and problem-solving; ability to make decisions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong data management skills and adherence to data integrity requirements.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and with others; ability to understand analytical/technical data.
  • Ability to learn regulatory requirements and guidelines (ICH, CFR, FDA) related to environmental monitoring.
  • Good hand-eye coordination; ability to wear PPE and perform cleanroom gowning for ISO-8/ISO-7/ISO-5 environments as required.
  • Ability to use cleaning and disinfectant agents.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods (8+ hours).
  • Exposure to medium noise levels.
  • Previous experience in a microbiology lab and in a quality control/production environment in a cGMP facility is preferred.
