Role Summary

Bio-Techne is seeking a field-based Protein Science Reagent Sales Specialist to cover a subset of key accounts in the Baltimore, Maryland / DC area. The role focuses on proteins, antibodies, ELISA kits, multiplexing kits, and related solutions from Bio-Techne brands. Responsibilities include achieving sales targets through consultative value selling to pharma and academia, with high-content meetings (in person or virtual) across scientist levels, and presentations of the full portfolio as well as product-specific discussions. The ideal candidate will be located near Baltimore and the I-270 Corridor and should be familiar with standard scientific methods, reagents, techniques, and equipment relevant to Bio-Techne’s product line.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales targets through application of consultative selling methods
  • Field sales located in the designated territory and visiting customers 4 days per week
  • Maintain and develop incremental business in existing and new accounts
  • Identify solutions for customers using industry and product knowledge
  • Proteins, antibodies, small molecules, cell culture reagents, and cell therapy products
  • Plan and execute account management to accomplish goals and follow company vision
  • Ensure that customers understand the value proposition, features & benefits, competitive advantages, and applications of all relevant products
  • Daily use of CRM (Salesforce) for scheduling, forecasting, and detailed capture of customer information for all opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological/medical sciences or related field with a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in life sciences sales required; advanced degrees may be considered if applicable
  • Thorough understanding of the scientific principles behind the use of Bio-Techne products
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Salesforce (CRM)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • A valid driver’s license is required

Skills

  • Knowledge of reagents, laboratory techniques, methods and equipment used in research, development, and production of pharmaceutical drugs and biologics
  • Understanding of organizational structures across pharmaceutical, biotech, academic, and government segments and how to engage them
  • Ability to identify and evaluate customer needs to recommend appropriate products and solutions
  • Ability to work independently and in teams on routine assignments or projects
  • Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Deep understanding of customer needs from prior laboratory experience
  • Modern prospecting skills and business acumen to grow new business
  • Experience using a CRM to document the sales process with customer information
  • Previous consultative selling experience in a scientific environment

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological/medical sciences or related field; advanced degrees may be considered in lieu of industry experience
