Role Summary
As a Project Manager, you will support Alkermes in advancing a comprehensive AI strategy through the INDIGO program, leading cross-functional R&D AI initiatives and partnering with the INDIGO Program Manager to drive agile transformation. You will align outcomes with strategic goals and ensure projects are delivered on time within budget, contributing to best practices and successful investments in ML and AI technologies. This role requires collaboration, organization, problem solving, facilitation, and communication, with deep experience in agile project management, R&D, and AI applications within the pharmaceutical or life-sciences industry. Location: Waltham, MA; hybrid schedule onsite 3x per week.
Responsibilities
- Define and Clarify Objectives: Establish clear project objectives, scope, and success criteria, aligning both Agile and traditional planning approaches.
- Develop Project Plans: Build and maintain hybrid project plans that combine iterative delivery (sprints, backlogs, increments) with structured timelines, milestones, and resource planning and budget alignment to ensure projects are delivered on scope, on time, and within financial targets.
- Resource Management and Capacity Management: Coordinate team capacity, skills, and resource needs across workstreams to ensure smooth execution.
- Team Leadership: Guide the project team by facilitating Agile ceremonies, coordinating cross-functional workflows, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring progress toward deliverables.
- Proactive risk and issue management, identify risks early, drive mitigation strategies, resolve issues quickly, and ensure strong cross-functional communication and alignment.
- Maintain project artifacts and communication tools, develop and manage key project documents, dashboards, and communication mechanisms that support transparency and collaboration across teams.
- Support portfolio governance, contribute to portfolio level governance by applying structured frameworks, consistent reporting, and disciplined execution across hybrid delivery models.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that cultivates and promotes: a βlearningβ team mindset which seeks, assesses & incorporates feedback-learnings-new/evolved ideas, open and transparent communication, and constructive conflict resolution.
- Training and Support: Organize and facilitate training for users of implemented AI solutions.
- Post-Project Evaluation: Conduct evaluations to assess project success and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Life Sciences, or related fields.
- Preferred: PMP, PRINCE2, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or similar project management certifications.
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to manage global complex, cross-functional technology projects with a solid understanding of software development lifecycles, system architecture, and integration principles to effectively communicate with technical teams to ensure delivery of scalable solutions.
- Preferred: Proven experience in projects involving scientific research or data driven methodologies, with the ability to interpret technical findings, align project objectives with scientific rigor, and facilitate collaboration between research and operational teams.
