Product Development Specialist

Role: Product Development Specialist focusing on developing optical mechanical solutions through complex technical projects. Responsibilities include leading mechanical modeling efforts, understanding adhesive and thin film mechanics, engaging with customers to address technical challenges, coordinating test development, and guiding material performance assessments. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in science or engineering; 5+ years in mechanical modeling and applied mechanics in private, public, government, or military sectors. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science; experience with adhesive and soft materials modeling; cross-functional collaboration skills; and a strong foundation in mechanical fundamentals. High-Value: optical system development, mechanical modeling, adhesive and thin film mechanics, material performance validation, intellectual property generation. Work setup: On-site role at 3M Center, Maplewood, MN, with up to 15% travel; relocation support may be provided.
