Role Summary
The Senior Manager will lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for global marketing-related spend, including creative agencies of record, media planning and buying, omnichannel, website development and support. This role is accountable for cost optimization, driving supplier innovation, and mitigating risk while partnering closely with Marketing stakeholders to enable business growth and brand objectives. Reporting to the Senior Director, responsible for Global Commercial Procurement, the Sr Manager will serve as a trusted advisor and objective advocate for the procurement organization, fostering strong partnerships with Commercial leaders across Jazz. The role will require travel to Jazz US and global offices as required, supplier sites and other meetings locations as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for developing, executing, and improving comprehensive category strategies for marketing spend aligned with business objectives.
- Analyze market trends and benchmark costs to identify opportunities for savings and innovation.
- Subject matter expert (knowledge of industry, major players, threats, opportunities, terms, etc.).
- Manage the end-to-end competitive sourcing process (i.e., specifications, statements of work, performance terms, and/or acceptance criteria); manage an efficient Vendor selection process driving the team towards a timely decision with all risks identified.
- Negotiate master agreements as well as other associated contracts (SOWs, Change Orders, etc.) and detailed budgets and payment schedules.
- Partner with Marketing leadership to understand business needs and deliver procurement solutions that support brand and campaign goals.
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders at all levels, balancing cost efficiency with quality and speed-to-market.
- Establish effective cross-functional relationships (Commercial, Quality, Legal, Finance and others) to ensure synergies are delivered and roadblocks mitigated.
- Challenge the status quo for process, systems, and people with the goal of streamlined operations.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers to ensure performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure favorable terms that mitigate risks and maximize value.
- Monitor supplier performance and drive resolution of disputes or performance issues.
- Develop a governance model, conduct vendor segmentation, gain buy-in from business owners, establish category-wide KPIs, and implement infrastructure to support ongoing supplier reviews.
- Partner with the Business and Finance to produce an annual Budget and regular re-forecasts justifying differences based on negotiated contracts and future projects.
- Collaborate with Finance to input financial information required for projects, make-versus-buy analyses, and other strategic scenarios requiring external cost input.
- Actively track and report on savings resulting from Procurement’s engagement.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA or CPSM preferred.
- Required: Minimum 7 years of Procurement experience with progressive responsibility, at least 5 years in marketing category management.
- Preferred: Experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
- Preferred: Experience as a Category Manager supporting Europe and International.
- Required: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication to varying levels within the organization.
- Required: Commercially astute with strong planning and analytical skills, including financial modelling, Excel, and strong PowerPoint skills.
- Required: Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Required: Ability to influence without direct authority.
- Required: Proven track record of significant cost reduction.
- Preferred: Experience with Coupa’s Business Spend Management Platform (all Source to Pay modules).
