Operations
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Process Safety Management (PSM) technical resource in the Engineering Technology Center (ETC).
- Be a key technical resource for GIPSM processes (e.g., Mechanical Integrity, Process Hazards, Pressure Safety).
- Act as a corporate technical resource on pressure relief hazards:
- Calculate/evaluate pressure relief system sizing.
- Recommend external resources for emergency pressure relief evaluation and sizing.
- Review third-party evaluations of pressure relief system design.
- Act as a corporate technical resource on Mechanical Integrity (MI):
- Provide technical expertise aligned with recognized engineering practices and Lilly global engineering standards.
- Support LOPA evaluations via understanding of critical safety system components and design.
- Provide inspection expertise (technology and program setup).
- Support standardization of MI elements in maintenance package development.
- Support standardization of Asset Integrity & Repair for Operational Readiness Reviews.
- Provide engineering resource for GPSIM processes (process hazards reviews, process hazard evaluations, LOPA, event investigation).
- Partner with GHSE on safety-related trends and ownership of key GHSE standards/expectations.
- Partner with LRL to ensure process safety aspects are considered when developing new processes/products.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Engineering (e.g., Chemical Engineering).
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in pharmaceutical and/or specialty chemical lab and/or manufacturing environments.
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly does not sponsor work authorization/visas.
Additional Preferences:
- Professional engineering license.
- Mechanical/process engineering experience in two or more areas (small molecule bulk, large molecule bulk, dry products, parenteral products, delivery devices, utilities, facilities management, Lilly Research).
- Knowledge of US/non-US codes and standards for emergency pressure relief.
- Strong written/verbal communication; able to work within and lead diverse, multi-functional teams.
- Project management and interpersonal/communication skills.
- Emergency relief calculation qualification; knowledgeable of first principles.
