Role Summary

Perrigo Nutritionals is seeking a Process Mechanic to work the Night Shift (6pm–6am ET) in Georgia, VT. The role involves maintenance and troubleshooting of packaging and manufacturing process equipment, performing preventative maintenance and repairs, and supporting a clean, organized 5S work environment. The position is full-time, non-exempt and operates on a biweekly 2/2/3 schedule. A high school diploma or GED and 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience are required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting the mechanical aspects of packaging and manufacturing process equipment and piping systems in compliance with standard operating procedures, ensuring machinery operates in a clean, organized environment.
  • Machine rebuilding, repair and troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and moving equipment, including packaging equipment, sanitary valves and actuators, sanitary pumps, gear and belt driven assemblies and conveyors, including belt and chain tension and alignment.
  • General building maintenance for the facility grounds, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
  • Create and complete general work orders, documenting clearly; interface with other mechanics and technicians across shifts in a team environment.
  • Continuously seek and help implement improvements to safety, quality and productivity; perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain order (5S) in the workspace and Maintenance Shop.
  • Participate in training and career development activities as assigned; other duties throughout the plant as needed.

Qualifications

  • Required: High school diploma, GED or equivalency.
  • Required: 2+ years of solid maintenance experience in an industrial maintenance setting or comparable environment.
  • Required: Good math and reading comprehension; able to read, speak and comprehend instructions in English (or applicable language) including procedure documents.
  • Required: Must meet all locally defined training requirements.
  • Preferred: Mechanic certification in complex industrial or automotive repair/rebuild procedures.
  • Preferred: Welding and/or machinist certification(s).
  • Preferred: Experience operating a lathe, mill and other fabrication equipment.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated cooperative work conduct and ability to work independently with minimal supervision following oral and written directions.
  • Preferred: Ability to read and utilize equipment repair/rebuild manuals and drawings.
  • Preferred: Computer skills in Microsoft Suite and experience with CMMS such as SAP; ability to navigate computer-based training systems and use them as part of daily work.
  • Preferred: General knowledge of Utility Systems (Steam, Water, Gas) and how they support an Industrial Manufacturing plant operation.

Education

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Additional Requirements

  • Works from ladders and man lifts; able to continuously lift 20 pounds (9 kg) or more and up to 50 pounds (22 kg) frequently.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors for up to 12 hours.
  • Must be able to stoop, squat, and bend.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and high areas with proper procedures; ability to reach laterally and above shoulder height.
  • Must be able to frequently grasp objects and small hand tools; sufficient visual and auditory acuity to work safely in an industrial environment.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment to comply with hazardous procedures.
  • Ability to properly utilize hand and power tools to perform general maintenance activities.
  • Protective Equipment Requirement; may be required to wear negative and/or positive pressure respirators daily for long periods.
  • Must be medically cleared to wear respirators without restrictions.
  • Must be clean shaven to seal the area of the tight-fitting respirator.
  • Must be able to comply with locally required worker safety, environmental and health practices.
