Process Mechanic (Day Shift) β€” Perrigo Nutritionals, Georgia, VT

Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical aspects of packaging and manufacturing process equipment and piping systems per SOPs; ensure machinery runs in a clean, organized environment.
- Rebuild, repair, troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, and move equipment, including packaging equipment; sanitary valves/actuators; sanitary pumps; gear/belt-driven assemblies and conveyors (belt/chain tension and alignment).
- Perform general building maintenance (facility grounds, HVAC, plumbing).
- Create/complete work orders and document clearly; communicate with mechanics/technicians across shifts.
- Identify and implement improvements related to safety, quality, and productivity; complete special projects and other assigned duties.
- Maintain order (5S) in workspace and Maintenance Shop.
- Participate in training/career development; perform other plant duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Required)
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalency.
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience (or comparable environment) across maintenance skills.
- Ability to use hand and power tools for maintenance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow oral/written directions.
- Ability to read and use equipment repair/rebuild manuals and drawings.
- Microsoft Suite skills; experience with CMMS (e.g., SAP) and computer-based training.
- General knowledge of utility systems (steam, water, gas) supporting industrial manufacturing.
- Strong math and reading comprehension; read/speak/comprehend instructions in English (or applicable country language), including procedure documents.
- Meet all locally defined training requirements.

Preferred
- Mechanic certification in complex industrial or automotive repair/rebuild procedures.
- Welding and/or machinist certification(s).
- Experience operating a lathe, mill, and other fabrication equipment.

Physical Requirements
- Work from ladders/man lifts; continuously lift 20 lbs (9 kg) and frequently lift up to 50 lbs (22 kg) (or equivalency).
- Stand on concrete floors up to 12 hours.
- Stooping, squatting, and bending.
- Work in confined spaces and high areas using proper procedures; sustained reach laterally and above shoulder height.
- Frequent grasping of objects and small hand tools (e.g., calipers); sufficient visual and audio acuity to work safely/accurately.
- Wear appropriate PPE for hazardous procedures.
- May be required to wear negative/positive pressure respirators daily for long periods; must be medically cleared without restrictions and clean shaven to seal respirator.
