Role Summary

Process Mechanic at GSK in King of Prussia, PA. Responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of biopharmaceutical process equipment, with exposure to automation and robotics to support continuous production in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and safely repairs process systems on a routine and emergency basis to assure continuous production operations.
  • Maintain and repair sanitary valves and actuators, agitation systems, rotary lobe pumps, centrifugal pumps, cartridge mechanical seals, centrifuges, chromatography columns, autoclaves, equipment washers, and other sanitary/sterile equipment and systems.
  • Familiar with PLCs and distributed control systems and their operation and interaction with the process equipment and systems.
  • Use schematics to diagnose electrical control and motor circuits.
  • Safely perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on process equipment and systems. Make recommendations for maintenance tasks and frequencies and procedural/operational changes to enhance equipment life and maintainability. Identify spare parts and consumables necessary to perform these tasks.
  • Perform metal fabrication tasks as necessary.
  • Inspect, replace, align, adjust, and lubricate mechanical system components including bearings, gear boxes, belt drives, shaft couplings, mechanical seals, and related devices.

Qualifications

  • Required: High school diploma
  • Required: 2+ years of experience in maintaining and/or troubleshooting industrial process or utility equipment
  • Required: Experience in administrative tasks
  • Preferred: Any type of technical certification, such as welding, mechatronics, machinery
  • Preferred: Familiar with cGMPs, regulatory guidelines, governmental codes, and standard operating procedures
  • Preferred: Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Preferred: Skills and knowledge to serve as a resource to less experienced employees
  • Preferred: Ability to work rotating shift work, work safely, independently, and without direct supervision
