Process Maintenance & Utilities Technician Apprentice (24-month apprenticeship)

Responsibilities / What You’ll Do:
- Support operation of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, compressed air, and water systems
- Assist maintenance of process equipment (e.g., bioreactors, centrifuges, pressure vessels)
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance
- Monitor plant utility systems using BMS, DeltaV, and ParCS
- Assist with routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic mechanical repairs
- Respond to alarms and support investigations in GMP-controlled environments
- Record and track equipment readings and performance data
- Assist senior technicians with daily inspections and system checks
- Follow safety practices and comply with site procedures
- Participate in hazard response activities (e.g., spill and alarm response, as applicable)
- Support safe, reliable utility delivery; support HVAC-related work as needed

Qualifications / Required Skills:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Currently enrolled in, or willing to enroll within 30 days of hire, in a 2- or 4-year academic program
- Ability to commit and complete the apprenticeship at an approved community college
- Mechanical aptitude (hand/power tools; interpreting technical drawings/specifications)
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn and work in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow technical instructions, safety procedures, and established work practices
- Attention to detail; accurate documentation
- Ability to work under close supervision
- Physical requirements: climb ladders, work in tight spaces, lift/move up to 50 lbs; stand up to 3 hours; comfortable in cleanroom gowning

Preferred Skills:
- Interest/experience with cGMP, utilities, manufacturing equipment, low voltage electrical systems, and HVAC systems
- Exposure to facility/utility systems (HVAC, boilers, water systems, etc.)
