Role Summary

Process Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, and maintain process equipment supporting clinical manufacturing suites, including bioreactors, purification systems, purified water systems, tanks and skids, mixers, blenders, agitators, pumps, heat exchangers, columns, benchtop equipment, and local water systems.
  • Service and repair equipment and systems to meet GXP requirements throughout the clinical manufacturing and R&D laboratory facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment problems.
  • Maintain and update maintenance records.
  • Follow all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Perform periodic equipment inspections following a checklist format and according to a schedule to proactively identify maintenance and repair needs prior to equipment failures.
  • Direct and assist other technicians as needed in performing all duties as assigned.
  • Work on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required to resolve problems and make recommendations.
  • Work effectively with contractors and assist project management teams from facilities and global engineering.
  • Develop or assist in the development of any documents required to support the maintenance function.
  • Determine or assist in the determination if newly installed equipment or facilities are suitable for maintenance operation and usage.
  • Monitor as required and respond to all assigned BMS (Building Management System) alarms.

Qualifications

  • Certificate of completion at a 2-year technical trade school or High School diploma with experience in maintenance trades working in Pharma, Biotech, or other highly regulated industries.
  • 2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair, preferably in a biotech setting.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand technical schematics and diagrams.
  • Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years cGMP or cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Experience with specific types of biotech equipment, such as bioreactors, centrifuges, and HPLC systems.
  • Certification in a relevant field, such as electrical or mechanical technologies.
