Role Summary

Process Engineering Co-op (Fall 2026) at Wave Life Sciences. This 6-month, full-time program supports the Process Engineering group at the Lexington site, focusing on oligonucleotide manufacturing, GMP process equipment, and related capital projects. The role provides hands-on experience in GMP environments, with opportunities to learn about process unit operations and collaborate across engineering and facilities activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Process Engineering team with executing engineering project deliverables and drafting technical and quality documents.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain GMP process equipment and support manufacturing investigations.
  • Engage in a range of Engineering and Facilities activities and learn about oligonucleotide process unit operations and equipment.
  • Support and document engineering activities (maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment studies, etc.).
  • Learn to interpret engineering documents such as process and instrumentation diagrams and equipment specifications.

  • Required: Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Required: Ability to climb ladders and work in tight spaces with equipment (bending, squatting, twisting).
  • Required: Ability to lift 25–50 pounds, push/pull objects, and reach above shoulder height.
  • Required: Ability to gown in/out of cleanrooms.
  • Required: Legal authorization to work in the U.S. and enrollment in a full-time undergraduate program with intent to return to academics after the co-op.
  • Required: At least 18 years of age prior to the start date.
  • Preferred: Pursuing a Bachelor-level degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, data science/statistics, or related fields.
  • Preferred: Experience/interest in GMP process equipment and GMP manufacturing environments.
  • Preferred: Experience/interest in oligonucleotide manufacturing processes, unit operations, and facilities.
  • Preferred: Experience with data analysis using Excel, JMP, SQL, R, Python, etc.
  • Preferred: Experience with CAD and drafting P&IDs.
  • Preferred: Experience applying AI tools to boost productivity or data analysis.

Skills

  • Data analysis using statistical software or programming languages (e.g., Excel, JMP, SQL, R, Python).
  • CAD proficiency and ability to draft P&IDs.
  • Problem-solving with ability to interpret engineering documents.
  • Strong communication and teamwork capabilities.

Education

  • Pursuing a Bachelor-level degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, data science / statistics, or related field.

Additional Requirements
