Process Development Sr Scientist
What You Will Do:
- Define favorable quality characteristics of therapies and optimize analytical tools to guide development.
- Identify and characterize attributes of therapeutic proteins and synthetic molecules using advanced analytical techniques.
- Develop/apply sample preparation and analytical methods (chromatography, electrophoresis, and/or LC-MS/MS).
- Assess protein quality attributes, including chemical modifications (glycosylation, oxidation, deamidation, aspartate isomerization, hydroxylation, etc.).
- Use chromatographic/electrophoretic systems and mass spectrometry platforms.
- Communicate scientific results (verbal/written); follow protocols and maintain accurate electronic lab notebook records.
- Collaborate on multidisciplinary teams; work independently to meet deadlines.
- Contribute to patents/publications; stay current on field and advance drug development technologies.
Qualifications:
Basic: Doctorate; or Master’s + 2 years scientific experience; or Bachelor’s + 4 years scientific experience.
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in analytical chemistry/biochemistry (emphasis on mass spec, chromatography, electrophoresis, or related analytics).
- 2+ years post-PhD pharmaceutical/biotech experience in analytical method development for drug substance/product.
- Peptide mapping; intact/reduced LC-MS for modification ID/quant.
- Experience with Thermo Q-Exactive, Agilent MS; Agilent/Waters HPLC/UHPLC; data software (e.g., Empower, Chromeleon, Mass Hunter).
- Strong communication; data/statistics tools (Excel, Spotfire, JMP); programming (R/Python/C++/ML); automation/robotics/liquid handlers.
