Role Summary
Process Development Engineer I, Purification Dev (PMPD) at Regeneron. Responsible for purification process development and support purification of various pre-clinical biological molecules to provide reagents for Regeneron’s research and discovery groups. Works in a fast-paced, team environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute experiments and projects using established procedures; perform basic data entry and analysis; interpret data and present results to supervisor.
- Design experiments with proper controls; read and understand scientific literature and technical documentation; execute experimental plans to verify literature findings with direction.
- Train and become proficient in operation of job-relevant laboratory instrumentation and data systems; assist in training new staff after demonstrating competency; support knowledge/data management and equipment maintenance.
- Contribute to technology development and improvement initiatives; support development of technology and automation to increase throughput and speed of process development.
- Draft and review templated documents and related presentations with supervisor review; build relationships within subgroup and assist peers; proactively aid others in experiment execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s with 3+ years or Master’s in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Biochemistry; 0-3 years’ experience in biotech/pharma acceptable.
- Strong fundamental understanding of protein purification and conjugation techniques is a plus.
- Experience with downstream development and with listed equipment and systems (e.g., Akta Avant/Pilot/Process Skid, Disc Stack Centrifuge, depth filtration, Tangential/Normal flow filters, chromatography columns, HPLC/UPLC, ultrafiltration/diafiltration skid, laminar flow hood, chemical fume hood, Empower, Unicorn, JMP, LIMS, PI Historian).
Skills
- Laboratory operations and data management; ability to interpret data and present findings; scientific methodology and controls understanding.
- Team collaboration, effective communication across organization levels, and willingness to train others.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (or Master’s) in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Biochemistry; relevant biotech/pharma experience is favored.
