Process Chemistry Scientist

Role Summary

Process Chemistry Scientist at Vertex in San Diego, CA. Perform synthetic organic chemistry to design and execute syntheses, troubleshoot chemistry issues, analyze data, and contribute to development strategies in a matrix team environment.

Responsibilities

• Designs, executes, and interprets synthetic organic experiments with reliability, independence, and attention to detail
• Proficient in analytical tools (NMR, HPLC, LCMS, Biotage) to monitor and analyze experiments
• Generate hypotheses to pursue synthesis goals and set new experimental direction
• Multitask to execute multiple experiments efficiently
• Contribute to development activities and scientific strategies
• Develop novel solutions to overcome synthetic and manufacturing obstacles
• Employ new principles and technologies to advance synthesis
• Maintain accurate records and author reports as assigned
• Draft, review, and submit documentation pertaining to development and preparation of drug substances under cGMP

Qualifications

• PhD with 0‚Äì3 years relevant synthetic chemistry experience; or
• MS with 3+ years relevant synthetic chemistry experience; or
• BS with 6+ years relevant synthetic chemistry experience

Skills

• Familiar with SOPs and GMPs; ensure compliance with regulations and SOPs
• Experience writing and transferring developed technology to outside CROs and working with suppliers to solve chemical issues
• Excellent verbal and written communication to convey complex technical information and prepare presentations/reports
• Ability to interact with various levels across the organization
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Education

• PhD with 0‚Äì3 years relevant experience; or
• MS with 3+ years relevant experience; or
• BS with 6+ years relevant experience
