Principal Statistical Programmer responsibilities:
- Lead programming for one or more studies, ensuring efficient development and validation of analysis packages.
- Select appropriate tools/languages; solve complex technical challenges.
- Identify and implement improvements (including use of AI/ML); contribute to departmental initiatives and technical strategy.
- Ensure adherence to standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GPP, CDISC).
- Perform QC on critical outputs and technical documents (e.g., cSDRG, ADRG); maintain governance and oversee TMF compliance.
- Drive adoption of modern technologies, standards, and Agile practices.
- Provide technical input on programming strategies and study design; act as SME for emerging tools.
- Communicate technical concepts, risks, and timelines to stakeholders.
- Mentor junior programmers; share best practices.
- Support sprint planning and cross-functional execution; manage data access appropriately.

Accountabilities:
- Serve as Lead Programmer for complex or multiple studies.
- Ensure quality, compliance, and efficient execution; make data-driven decisions and proactively address risks/issues.

Required qualifications/skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Expert in R programming.
- 6+ years of clinical programming experience.
- 5+ years in Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry.
- Experience using generative AI tools and coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude) to improve programming efficiency and workflows.

Preferred qualifications/skills:
- HIV clinical trials drug development experience.
- Advanced degree.
- GenAI assistant experience for productivity/automation.
- Git-based workflows, reusable frameworks, automation pipelines.
- Experience with R, Python, and open-source analytics in regulated environments.
- Standards/process improvement/digital transformation experience; Agile knowledge.
- Lead programming experience for complex studies; CDISC/regulatory/quality knowledge.
- Strong communication/stakeholder management; experience mentoring.
