Role: Principal Scientist in Upstream Development within Biologics Process R&D, focusing on developing and optimizing cell culture processes for early- and late-stage clinical biologics. Objectives: lead biologic upstream process development, drive process innovation, and support CMC activities including process transfer and regulatory filings. Responsibilities: develop high-yield, scalable cell culture processes; provide technical guidance for process characterization and commercialization; collaborate with academia, industry partners, and vendors to evaluate new technologies; supervise and mentor junior scientists; contribute to patenting and scientific publications. Qualifications: Ph.D. with 8+ years or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related fields; proven expertise in CHO fed-batch culture, bioreactor operations, and downstream analytics; strong record of scientific publications and process development accomplishments. Preferred: experience with advanced process intensification, automation, in situ analytics, data science methods like MFA and machine learning, and cross-functional team leadership. High-Value: biologics, biologics pipeline, upstream process development, CMC, process transfer, regulatory support, bioreactor operations, and process innovation. Work setup: location in Rahway, NJ; travel approximately 10%. Salary range: $173,200 β $272,600, with eligibility for bonus and incentives.
