Position Summary:
Bristol Myers Squibb seeks a Staff Veterinarian for the Veterinary Sciences (VS) team at the Lawrenceville, NJ (LVL) site, with cross-coverage at the New Brunswick, NJ (NBR) site. Provide high-quality veterinary care for research animals, partner with investigators on scientific research, and support the animal care and use program, including GLP exposure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical care and accurate record keeping (clinical assessment/diagnoses, treatment planning, disease outbreak management, surgery and anesthesia)
- Serve as clinical veterinarian at LVL; cross-cover at NBR; provide veterinary oversight for GLP studies and ensure GLP compliance
- Direct/evaluate animal health surveillance; interpret microbiological/serological/parasitological data to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease
- Collaborate on experimental protocol design and animal model development
- Implement VS training programs with the Global Training Team
- Support IACUC: rotational pre-review, post-approval monitoring (PAM), and assessment of research personnel technical competencies
- Contribute to internal projects/cross-site committees; supervise VS staff as assigned (mentorship provided)
Qualifications & Experience:
- DVM (or equivalent) and current US veterinary license
- Laboratory animal experience and knowledge of biology, diseases, and handling
- ACLAM board-eligibility (preferred)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, IACUC, AAALAC)
- Occupational health & safety knowledge, including PPE
- Interest/experience with surgical models and anesthesia (preferred)
- Experience with large animals (NHP, swine) (preferred)
