Role: Lead the Pilot Plant function within Process & Product Development for cell therapy manufacturing at Allogene, translating process strategies into scalable operations. Responsibilities: oversee execution of large-scale studies, ensure technology transfer to GMP, design and conduct process development and characterization studies, mitigate scale-up risks, and drive process integration across steps like thaw, activation, expansion, and fill/finish. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Drug Product, MSAT, and Manufacturing; develop automation strategies; document processes; support regulatory filings; interpret data; and mentor scientists. Requirements: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related; 7+ years of biologics or cell therapy process development experience (or equivalent with MS/BS years of industry experience); expertise in process characterization, DOE, and automation using Python/R; strong knowledge of cell therapy platforms (gene editing, viral transduction, etc.); experience with regulatory submissions and validation.
