Main Responsibilities:
- Lead drug development programs by managing timelines, defining key scientific questions, and ensuring team focus.
- Establish in vitro and in vivo models for molecule testing, biomarker discovery, and exploratory biology.
- Interrogate human datasets to identify novel pathways and targets; collaborate with platform teams for target credentialing using genetic/genomic approaches.
- Contribute using diverse therapeutic modalities, with emphasis on gene knockdown/splicing technologies (e.g., siRNA and ASOs).
- Mentor team members and provide strategic/day-to-day guidance; support laboratory execution.
- Perform laboratory experiments with team members.
- Implement AI into screening, experimental, and analysis workflows to accelerate discovery.
- Collaborate across matrixed, cross-functional teams (Neurology therapeutic area, platform groups, external partners).
- Build/maintain external scientific network for collaborations, licensing, and business development.
- Compile, present, and communicate scientific progress to internal/external audiences.
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in neuroscience, neuropsychiatry, neurodevelopmental disorders, or related field.
- Minimum 3 yearsβ drug development experience.
Skills/Technical Requirements:
- Prior RNA-based therapeutics drug development experience; knowledge of RNA conjugation, design, and delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in neuropsychiatry and/or developmental disorders (including epilepsy).
- Ion channel biology and experience evaluating ion channel function.
- Ability to apply AI-based approaches to drug discovery.
- Impactful publications in neurodevelopmental/neuropsychiatric/epilepsy-related disorders.
- Expertise in cell-based disease models (iPSC-derived, primary neuronal systems, complex co-culture).
- Strong in vivo pharmacology understanding (rodents and/or non-human primates); hands-on experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, presentation, and scientific writing skills.
