Principal Scientist

What You'll Do
- Work closely with team members managing client and R&D projects; ensure high standards and timely delivery.
- Serve as a visible leader in the group, using strong communication, organizational, and technical skills to support training and development; improve team knowledge and processes.
- Work with the VP to create and cascade short- and medium-term team vision and strategy.

Scientific
- Be the senior point of contact for operational and scientific support across all Tox assays (troubleshooting, data analysis, interpretation).
- Identify opportunities for and lead cross-functional collaboration.
- Design and perform novel Tox assays.
- Conduct in vitro Tox assays manually or using automated liquid handling systems; manage multiple projects to meet timelines.
- Participate in scientific discussions to resolve issues; critically analyze/interpret data to design next steps.
- Work with project managers and senior management to complete assigned work within expected timeframes.
- Provide expert scientific support for the wider company for Tox studies and drug metabolism studies.
- Stay current with scientific literature, developments, and regulatory guidelines; inform the team.
- Provide practical scientific guidance across functions; present findings regularly.

People
- Coach, mentor, and line manage team members using meetings, 1:1s, and ad hoc interactions.
- Assist with development plans and support execution.
- Assist the VP with succession planning.

Business
- Manage and coordinate multiple projects/activities with a results-driven approach.
- Improve group processes and gain efficiency in assays.
- Encourage continuous improvement; manage projects to completion.
- Participate in internal and external partner meetings as required.

Self
- Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed.
- Complete mandatory training; keep personal training records up to date.
- Participate in Evotalks and agree on personal targets with your supervisor.

Who You Are (Qualifications/Skills)
- PhD (5+ years experience) in biology, chemistry, Toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, or equivalent combination.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills; collaborative, multi-disciplinary work.
- Strong organization and attention to detail for in-vitro assay work.
- Detailed knowledge of in vitro Toxicology.
- Troubleshooting skills in assays and instrumentation.
- Experience locating and applying information in the scientific literature.

Compensation/Benefits
- Base pay range: $113,900 to $154,100 (salaried exempt).
