Principal Scientist I, Biologics Drug Product Development

Role: Senior Scientist II / Principal Scientist I in biologics drug product formulation and process development within AbbVie's R&D. Objectives: Lead formulation, process scale-up, tech transfer, and characterization for biologics (proteins, conjugates, peptides, neurotoxins) and genetic medicines (AAV, LNPs, cell therapy). Responsibilities: Represent Bio DPD in cross-functional teams, communicate development plans and risks, support scale-up and transfer activities, and drive scientific innovation to enhance capabilities and business processes. Qualifications: BS, MS, or PhD in Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering; 6+ to 14+ years of relevant industry experience depending on seniority level. Experience with biologics manufacturing, sterile operations, process development, and tech transfer. Preferred: regulatory filing experience, knowledge of cGMP/regulatory guidance, third-party manufacturing management, and quality risk strategies. High-value: biologics and gene therapy modalities, sterile parenteral manufacturing, cross-functional collaboration, and development stage focus on formulation and process optimization.
