Principal Scientist (Therapies for Hearing Loss and Vestibular Disorders)
Responsibilities:
- Independently lead research projects and drive development of novel therapies for inner ear disorders.
- Design rigorous and appropriate experiments to address core questions of hearing biology that can drive drug discovery and preclinical programs.
- Develop and characterize novel animal models to understand mechanisms of hearing loss and evaluate potential therapeutics.
- Design and execute in vivo and in vitro functional assays to understand mechanisms of syndromic and non-syndromic hearing loss.
- Work cross-functionally to develop translationally relevant studies.
- Carefully analyze and evaluate data.
- Present data internally and externally and participate in cross-functional discussions.
- Independently draft and review protocols and articles for publication.
- Motivate, develop, and supervise junior scientists, research associates, and other trainees.
Qualifications / Required:
- Ph.D. with a strong record of innovation and publication and 5+ years of experience.
- Proven expertise in drug development.
Qualifications / Preferred:
- Managerial experience (highly desirable).
- In vivo experimental experience (desirable).
- Strong understanding of human and mouse genetics and/or auditory physiology (advantage).
