Principal Scientist, Discovery Chemistry - San Carlos, California

Role: Principal Scientist leading chemistry efforts for exploratory research on innovative modalities at BeOne Institute, focusing on cancer therapeutics. Responsibilities: design and synthesize diverse compound libraries, develop and optimize synthetic pathways, implement parallel synthesis, and apply SAR insights to drive compound optimization. Collaborate cross-functionally, manage external CRO teams, and contribute to strategic research objectives. Qualifications: Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry with 6+ years' relevant experience in drug discovery, expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, compound library design, and SAR-driven optimization. Preferred: experience with emerging small-molecule modalities (e.g., molecular glues, degraders), covalent chemistry, chemical probes, and structure-based design; CRO management; computational chemistry skills; and laboratory scaling.
