Role: Senior scientific leader in Gilead’s Virology Department, focusing on herpesvirus research and antiviral drug discovery targeting viruses linked to autoimmune, inflammatory, and immunocompromised conditions. Responsibilities: oversee and advance antiviral programs from target identification to candidate selection; lead in vitro virology studies, develop assays, interpret data, troubleshoot complex challenges; evaluate emerging antiviral concepts, mentor scientists, and contribute to scientific publications and regulatory submissions. Requirements: BS with 10+ years, MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years of relevant research experience in virology, immunology, or microbiology; demonstrated expertise in virology with independent research success; mentoring experience preferred. Preferred qualifications: postdoctoral training plus 6+ years industry experience; expertise in herpesviruses, immunology, and viral disease models; experience in drug discovery and preclinical development; extensive hands-on assay development and cell-based virology skills; proven track record in program advancement, publications, patents, or technological innovations.
