Principal Research Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry

Role: Discovery Medicinal Chemist focused on developing novel oncology therapeutics within IDEAYA's pipeline, emphasizing synthetic chemistry and structure-based design. Responsibilities: synthesize complex molecules using modern techniques, troubleshoot reactions, design and propose target compounds addressing program liabilities, and utilize computational tools for optimization. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to advance drug candidates, deliver molecules from milligram to multi-gram scales, and communicate findings clearly. Requirements: Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry with 3-8 years in pharma, expertise in asymmetric reactions, cross-coupling, purification, and spectroscopic characterization. Proven ability to synthesize challenging structures efficiently, troubleshoot synthetic problems, and develop scalable chemistry. Strong knowledge of medicinal chemistry principles, SAR, ADME, and structure-based design. Preferred: experience in oncology drug discovery, biologics or small molecules, and familiarity with computational modeling.
