Principal Research Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry

Role: Discovery medicinal chemist focused on oncology drug development at IDEAYA Biosciences. Responsibilities: apply modern synthetic techniques to design and synthesize complex molecules, troubleshoot reactions, and deliver compounds from mg to multi-gram scales; utilize structure-based design and SAR data to optimize drug candidates; collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, manage external chemistry resources, and communicate results effectively. Requirements: Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry with 3-8 years industry experience; expertise in asymmetric reactions, cross-coupling, and purification; proven productivity in synthesizing challenging structures; strong problem-solving, record-keeping, and communication skills. High-Value: oncology (solid tumor indications), small molecules, late preclinical to early clinical stages, structure-based design, SAR-driven optimization, and ADME considerations.
