Clinical Research and Development
Responsibilities:
- Lead the setting and implementation of strategies for solving complex synthetic problems in process development via biocatalytic methods.
- Lead enzyme identification and design using recombinant DNA techniques, heterologous protein expression, and directed evolution to engineer biocatalysts with improved activity, selectivity, and stability for API process development.
- Leverage AI/ML tools, bioinformatics platforms, and high-throughput experimentation (HTE) to accelerate enzyme screening, optimization, and process development cycles.
- Participate in and/or lead project teams for process development and characterization for small molecules, peptides, antibody-drug conjugates, and other modalities.
- Lead a group of scientists; set project strategies and responsibilities, define timelines, and mentor in a matrixed team setting.
- Author/review technical reports, regulatory documents, patents, and publications; present findings internally and externally.
- Adhere to corporate standards regarding GxP compliance, code of conduct, safety, and material handling.

Qualifications:
- BS/MS/PhD in organic chemistry with typically 16+ (BS), 14+ (MS), or 8+ (PhD) years of experience.
- Deep synthetic organic chemistry expertise with hands-on biocatalysis (enzyme screening, characterization, synthetic applications).
- Proficiency in recombinant DNA techniques and protein expression.
- Experience with HTE platforms and data analysis for enzyme/reaction optimization.
- Ability to apply AI/ML/data science to complex chemical synthesis problems.
- Demonstrated innovation in chemical and automation technologies.
- Scientific leadership, strong communication, and collaboration skills.
- People management experience; high-impact external publications.
