Operations
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assessment/support for API purification operations (oligonucleotides, peptides, bioconjugates): develop/sustain process knowledge, process/equipment support, process optimization, equipment capability and asset management.
- Perform impact/risk assessments for relevant equipment/unit operations (e.g., chromatography skids/columns, TFF skids).
- Drive design, qualification documentation, and delivery of purification equipment; represent process engineering in Facility Acceptance Testing.
- Conduct equipment walkdowns during commissioning/qualification; identify issues and paths forward.
- Guide automation recipe/procedure discussions to ensure equipment operation delivers processes.
- Mentor junior engineers; lead technical projects; proactively solve problems with a data-driven approach.
- Ensure safety-first mindset; comply with internal Quality System and applicable standards/cGMP.
- Assess rig fit using technical data plus modeling/simulations/experiments to ensure acceptable scale-up (heat/mass transfer).
- Author/review/approve technical reports and regulatory submissions; maintain records/notebooks; quality mindset.

Basic Requirements:
- BS/MS in chemical engineering (or related) and 5+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech/CMO process engineering supporting drug substance (API) manufacturing or development.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time; Lilly does not sponsor visas.

Additional Preferences:
- Experience/interest in chemical engineering; knowledge of unit operations (e.g., chromatography, TFF, distillation, lyophilization, enzymatic ligation).
- GMP troubleshooting/root-cause analysis; DeltaV (preferred) and other listed software.
- Strong communication, analytical/problem-solving, process control understanding, and ability to mentor.
