Job Summary
- Apply state-of-the-art medicinal and synthetic chemistry expertise to advance small-molecule drug discovery programs toward the clinic.
- Provide support for existing small-molecule programs in pre-clinical development.
- Conduct internal chemistry research and potentially direct external CRO-driven activities.
Responsibilities
- Apply strong synthetic organic chemistry expertise and latest methodologies to solve medicinal chemistry challenges.
- Design and synthesize molecules with druglike properties using SAR, ADME, PK, and in-silico/in-vitro predictors for multiparameter optimization.
- Use modelling software to facilitate structure-based drug design (SBDD).
- Lead internal medicinal chemistry research efforts.
- Support lead advancement through in-vitro and in-vivo evaluation to identify clinical development candidates.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage research activities conducted at CROs.
- Collaborate with research staff, scientific advisors, consultants, and the scientific community.
- Define project goals and scientific strategies; generate testable hypotheses for decision-making.
- Draft research papers for journals/conferences and assist with patent applications.
- Serve as the chemistry representative on high-priority cross-functional teams.
Basic Qualifications
- PhD or MS in chemistry.
- Knowledge of ADME/PK, enzymology, biochemistry, biology, and pharmacology to interpret data and design new analogs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8 years of industrial experience.
- Experience with diverse drug targets and structure-based drug design (desirable).
- Experience with fragment-based lead discovery and covalent inhibitors.
- Track record of innovative solutions via peer-reviewed publications, patents, and conference presentations.
- Ability to manage CROs performing ADME/PK, enzymology, biochemistry, and pharmacology experiments.
- Independent thinking in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to generate clear reports/papers/presentations.
Compensation
- Targeted Base: $167,504 - $206,917.
