Principal Engineer, SAP Global Trade Services
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance and quality through AbbVie System Life Cycle (SLC) for SAP GTS solutions; drive continuous improvement.
- Stay current on technological trends; conduct technical research/due diligence and recommend new capabilities.
- Evaluate alternatives to meet business objectives; estimate and plan projects; solve complex IT program/project issues.
- Understand Global Trade & Compliance business challenges; design SAP GTS centric solutions meeting architecture and quality standards.
- Partner with service providers to implement solutions; provide in-depth technical expertise through development and release.
- Review deliverables/artefacts provided by service providers across SLC; manage SAP support activities.
- Lead technological proposals; evaluate SAP GTS technological advances and define response strategies.
- Monitor performance and capacity planning; validate and enhance designs.
- Mentor team members; ensure adherence to code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and SDLC standards.
- Communicate effectively with executive leadership, peers, and staff.
Qualifications:
Required:
- BS (8 yrs) / MS (7 yrs) / PhD (3 yrs) in application program development.
- Deep expertise in Global Trade and Compliance Procedures.
- Solution design in SAP GTS: Legal Control & Compliance; Customs Management (Import/Export).
- Strong ABAP programming.
- Software design/development; data integration; cloud (e.g., SAP RISE).
- Performance monitoring and capacity planning; write functional specifications for custom programs.
Preferred:
- Pharmaceutical industry experience; academic background in International Trade.
- SAP GTS: Special Customs Procedures; Preference Management.
- Application development experience (preferably pharma); SAP S/4HANA Logistics/Supply Chain.
- Experience with AI tools.
